Prompt! is simple teleprompter software for online download and purchase.
We've been developing, improving and selling Prompt! for a decade on Mac and PC.
Simple is the key to Prompt! as it scrolls text, either mirrored or not and has simple word processing functions (like cut, copy, paste and whatever you decide to type from within the program). Text can be imported and exported to and from the application in the standard .txt format as well as saved with a native Prompt! .pmt format. Try out the lite version before you buy.
Prompt! saves its own file format so you can import text for the talent to read and then adjust the settings and then give the application and the file to your on-camera person to practice at their leisure in their own environment regardless of platform, either Macintosh or Windows. The scrolling settings you make stay with the file.

More about Prompt!
When on-camera talent performs, they read what they speak from a teleprompter. Traditionally, this task is performed by a dedicated computer with an application to edit and scroll the text at a user driven speed using a piece of hardware called a "scroller". The video output of the scrolling text is reflected from a half silvered (pellix) mirror and the camera shoots through the other side of the mirror so that the talent is looking into the camera but reading the reflection of the text. This requires lots of hardware and software to achieve the same results as Prompt! and a laptop or computer and display.
By placing the laptop computer between the talent and the camera, the talent can read text from the top of the laptop screen and still appear to be looking at the camera if the camera is far enough back using a long lens. Trial and error is the key to getting a natural look to this process but the further the camera is from the subject, the better. If the talent will be controlling their own scrolling then mouse control is the best and if you have long mouse cord, that's even better. There is a built-in function to allow someone else to control the speed by using the keyboard or mouse. Use both if you like. For those traditionalists, Prompt! will also flip the text for use on half mirror teleprompter hardware..
Try out the (FREE) lite version before you buy. (The lite version only works with text files of under 2500 characters).
Some users of the The Windows version of Prompt! have had trouble using the Windows-created files on their OSX Mac Prompt!. There is a free application which will fix this issue with the Windows files on a Mac.The link is here.
All downloadable files have been compressed into .zip format for smaller download times. Macintosh users already have a decompression utility as do Windows users, but if you are a windows user and experience trouble then then please download a free ZIP utility for your platform here.

System requirements (different versions)
Mac OS X10.5 or greater, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Windows and Mac users can use a "Presentation Remote". It's designed to work with PowerPoint and alike but Prompt! has been programmed to work with these devices. There are some wireless and wired remote controls devices which come preprogrammed to use the PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN AND the 'b" key and Prompt! will work with these. PAGE UP will scroll faster, PAGE DOWN, will scroll slower and the "b" key will pause all scrolling and change the horizontal indicator to yellow indicating the paused mode. You can change the pause speed setting while Prompt! is in pause mode even though the scrolling is stopped. Pressing the "b" key again will toggle out of pause and you will be in the new speed.
If you are interested in controlling Prompt via wireless foot control then you should check out the Airturn BT-105 for Mac and PC. The AirTurn BT-105 is a wireless unit for controlling Prompt! and several other Mac and PC presentation applications hands-free. The BT-105 can connect two footswitches (which they sell as a package too) to provide speed control for Prompt!. The price is very reasonable as well.
Languages tested so far:
The Prompt! application displays menus and buttons in English but can work with different languages such as:
Chinese (traditional and simplified)
Indo-Aryan Marathi (Devanagari)
Prompt! will not work with Right to Left Languages.
Please note that if you wish to use accented characters you will need to change the Settings
in Prompt to use the utf-8 characterset. (Settings | Characterset | utf-8)
"I've been producing videos and commercials for over a decade. Prompt! will allow me to compete in this ever increasing marketplace with a professional tool that is adapted for today's marketplace and needs. My last shoot involved a greenscreen technology called Chromatte by ReflecMedia. It uses led's on the lens and prohibits the use of traditional mirror based teleprompters. I'll never go back! This will save me time and money. I spent over $1500 on teleprompting my last project - NEVER AGAIN thanks to Prompt!"
"When we began making video web sites for our clients, we looked everywhere for an affordable solution to teleprompting. Once we came across Prompt! we were sold! Prompt! fit our needs perfectly. The ease of use, features, and ability to run on our laptops allowed us to set up on client sites hassle free. Now with Prompt! our work days just became that much easier. We would recommend Prompt! to any company big or small with teleprompting needs."

"Wow! This version is so much better! We have middle & high school broadcast classes & use the software for our morning shows. This version is so user friendly. I am sure that the students will love it!!!"
- Brad Williams
Last, but certainly not least, is Prompt! It's not a plug-in nor special effects generator, but an independent app that's pure must-have. There's even a FREE lite version. So what does it do? It converts your laptop into a teleprompter. Now that's pretty sweet. It's a lifesaver when your on-camera talent can't remember their lines. It's also ideal for small, do-it-yourself shoots and vlogs. Import your text into the app and control the size of fonts, display on screen mirror text, use mouse or keyboard controls, or auto scroll.
